Getting Started on the Web App

After you sign up on app.swiftreporter.com, SwiftReporter sets up a working example so you can complete a report before you build a template. This walkthrough is web only. The mobile app does not seed a Practice Inspection or run this tour.

Before you begin

  • Sign up on the web app. Email verification is not required to finish signup. The session stays signed in. The next password login of an unverified account shows Verify Your Email. An already-open session is not sent to that screen. See Signing Up and Logging In.
  • Signup creates:
    • A Getting Started - Example Template
    • Comment-library notes and defects for every section of that template
    • A Practice Inspection
  • You land on Complete Report for the Practice Inspection.

Welcome modal

A Welcome to SwiftReporter modal opens first. It is not a help-tour step. It explains that you are on Complete Report and that a practice inspection was created.

What you will do lists:

  • Answer a couple of practice questions
  • Add a note from your comment library
  • Add an observation
  • See the inspection hub and how to preview or download a PDF

Choose Start walkthrough or Skip for now. Skip for now dismisses the walkthrough. You can start it later from Help.

Walkthrough steps

The walkthrough is action-gated: Next waits until you finish the current step. Skip is always available. After Skip, the walkthrough stays dismissed until you replay it.

The Practice Inspection already includes an example note and an example observation. Answers are not pre-filled. The step that asks you to answer questions only advances when you change answers after that step is active.

  1. This is a practice inspection — You are on Complete Report for an example job, not a real property. The heading is the page you work in. The table of contents on the left lists every section. Click a section to jump to it.
  2. Answer at least two practice questions — Fill in two questions in the first section, then press Next. Property Information includes checkbox, dropdown, and free-text questions.
  3. What is a note? — A note is reusable wording from your comment library. It prints as information (a disclaimer, a standard remark, or a tip). A note is not a finding and does not include photos or a recommendation.
  4. Add a note from your library — Open Add Note on the section and pick one of the example comments.
  5. Add an observation — An observation is a finding on this inspection. Open Add Observation on the section and save one. After you save it, the walkthrough continues on the inspection hub.
  6. This is the inspection hub — The hub is home for the job: observations, progress, Complete Report, and sharing a PDF.
  7. Observations, progress, and Complete Report — Review what you added and use Complete Report to keep filling in the template.
  8. AI Assist (only when that feature is on) — Optional. These steps are omitted when AI Assist is off.
  9. Preview or Download PDF — Shown after at least one observation and some answered questions. Generating a PDF is optional.
  10. You're ready to inspect — Replay the walkthrough anytime from Help.

The walkthrough does not spotlight the Add Note or Add Observation modals.

Practice Inspection

The Practice Inspection is a normal inspection with a Practice badge. It is not a separate inspection type and does not use a separate archive or lifecycle. It does not block Create Inspection. You can start a real job at any time.

Replay from Help

  1. Open Help (the help control in the top bar).
  2. Click Replay getting started walkthrough.

Replay works even if you clicked Skip earlier.

Templates welcome wizard (separate)

The first time you open Templates, a different wizard titled Welcome! Let’s create your first report offers region-filtered Pre-built templates. Step 2 asks Where do you work? and uses Country and State/Province. That wizard is independent of this Practice Inspection walkthrough. See Using Pre-built Templates.
