# SwiftReporter Assistant

SwiftReporter Assistant is a help chat on the signed-in web app. It explains SwiftReporter and can look at your own work. It does not edit inspections, contacts, billing, shares, comments, or templates.

It is separate from the **Help** button. Help articles stay on their own.

## Before you begin

The chat is a bubble at the bottom right of signed-in web pages for inspectors, including pay-as-you-go.

You do not see it if you are a viewer, you are in the customer portal or a shared-inspection view, or you are signed out (including login and signup).

## Steps

1. Click the bottom-right bubble. The accessible name is **Open SwiftReporter Assistant**. The chat opens as a column beside the page so the page stays visible. Drag the handle in the center to change the width.
2. Type in **Message SwiftReporter Assistant**. Press Enter to send. Press Shift+Enter for a new line. Click **Send**.
3. To attach a screenshot, click **Attach screenshot** (the paperclip beside **Send**).
4. Your message appears immediately. **Send** stays disabled while a reply is in progress. A typing indicator appears after a short delay.
5. The reply is labeled **SwiftReporter Assistant**. It answers only SwiftReporter questions. If it needs the current page, it captures that page itself. There is no separate capture button.
6. Click the clock (**Chat history**) to open past chats. Choose one to load it. The list closes. Click **New Chat** to start a fresh thread. Click **Collapse** to close the column.

## Ask a person for help

If you ask for a person, the assistant links to the forum, says the team responds within 24 hours, and can show a draft. The draft is posted only after you confirm that exact text with **Post to forum**.

A public post must not include private details: an email, phone number, street address, your name or email, an organization name, billing or subscription wording, or an account identifier. Page text, screenshots, and private results are not placed in a public post. If the draft is not safe to post, it is not published and you are given info@swiftreporter.com.

If you ask for an email address, you are given info@swiftreporter.com.

If you ask for a Zoom, demo, or setup walkthrough, one request is sent for your user after you confirm with **Send request**. A later request says it was already sent and points you back to the forum and info@swiftreporter.com.

## What happens next

Chat history belongs to you, is dated, and is kept. You can resume an old chat or start a new one. On-screen text and images stay in that private history.

## Troubleshooting

- **You do not see the bubble** — Sign in as an inspector on the web app. Viewers, the customer portal, shared-inspection views, and signed-out pages do not show it.
- **Send is disabled** — A reply is still in progress.
- **The public post was not published** — The draft included private details. Use info@swiftreporter.com instead.
- **A second setup request** — No second email is sent. Use the forum or info@swiftreporter.com.
